“GodSpeaks” Messages Move from Billboards to Web Site
Efforts Behind Mysterious GodSpeaks Billboard Campaign Finally Revealed at www.GodSpeaks.com
ATLANTA, Feb. 8, 2007—The mysterious billboards carrying clever, quirky, and thought-provoking messages "from God" are finding their way back onto highways across America, and have landed in Atlanta. While the boards will carry most of the original sayings, motorists will notice an addition . . . www.GodSpeaks.com.
Based on feedback from the two previous campaigns sponsored by the Outdoor Advertising Association of America, the creators of the billboards have launched a new Web site that strives to answer the questions provoked by the boards.
Atlanta is one of several cities where the anonymous donor who first launched GodSpeaks is purchasing billboard space and encouraging others to do the same. The Web site provides the general public with the resources to contact their local billboard owner and sponsor one or many boards in their hometown.
Generating nationwide buzz in 1999, the first GodSpeaks campaign began with a handful of billboards containing disarming one-liners signed "by God" that quickly mushroomed to 10,000 billboards. The billboards returned in 2005 and featured new messages. Now, GodSpeaks is back to challenge and inspire harried Georgia motorists.
The creative team behind GodSpeaks says that the anonymous sponsor of the project would still like God's identity, rather than their own, to be the focus of the campaign.
"The donor behind the GodSpeaks campaign simply wants people to focus on God and chose billboards as a way to connect with people in their daily lives," said Mark DeMoss, campaign spokesperson. "The billboards are designed to draw attention to the God presented in the Bible in a creative, thought-provoking way."
