In addition, there will be a special appearance by “BibleMan” (Willie Aames, of television’s Eight is Enough and Charles in Charge) for the Saturday morning children’s event.
More than 5,000 volunteers from 250 Brazos Valley churches have been involved in Festival activities, notes Dr. Bill Magee, local Festival chair.
The following events now are taking place in preparation for the Festival:

Training sessions for more than 300 ushers and choir rehearsals for 1,500 local voices are taking place this week (April 15-20).
-
A prayer “walk” is planned for April 21 throughout all neighborhoods. Participants will be praying that those struggling in life will come to the Festival and hear a message of hope.
-
Special Neighborhood Discovery Group Training sessions will be held April 23 and 25. Some participating churches will host 24 hours of continuous prayer April 26 and 27. Also a special briefing for children’s counselors will be held Saturday, April 27.
-
Final preparations are being made so that prisoners in all 114 prisons across Texas will receive a satellite broadcast of the Festival.
Festival admission and parking is free. Nightly programs begin at 7 p.m. with doors opening at 6 p.m. The special children’s program on May 4 will start at 11 a.m.
The Brazos Valley Festival 2002 is a non-denominational effort organized through the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association (BGEA) and supported and planned by local church leaders. Franklin Graham serves the BGEA as president and CEO and continues to travel the world as president of the international Christian relief organization Samaritan’s Purse.
