TV Host, Working Wife and Mother Shares Personal Stories of Struggle and Surrender
Surrender All by Daystar's Joni Lamb Provides the Answer to Finding True Purpose, Power and Peace
DALLAS, Sept. 2, 2008—Joni Lamb - working mom, TV executive, popular talk show host and inspirational singer - is the down-to-earth, up-to-date, "every woman" of today's Christian television. Millions of viewers have seen her many sides on the world's second largest faith-based television network - Daystar - but with the release of her first book, Surrender All (Random House, October 2008), Joni reveals her personal struggles, triumphant surrender to God and stories of surrender from some her favorite talk show guests - the ordinary to extraordinary.
"It would have been easy to surrender if I could have peered through the telescope of time and viewed my future family, a worldwide ministry. But, I did not have that privilege. God wants to see if we are willing to surrender when we have no idea what the future holds." (page 26)
INTERVIEW OPPORTUNITY:
Daystar Television Network's Joni Lamb, author of the soon-to-be-released Surrender All, is available for interviews:
- Monday, Sept. 15, 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. CT
- Wednesday, Sept. 17, 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. CT
As a teen in South Carolina, Joni struggled with self-esteem and found her self-worth only when she surrendered to God. Now, 25 years later, a wife and mother of three, she hosts two TV shows on the world's second largest faith-based television network that she co-founded with her husband Marcus Lamb.
"I do my best to make sure my calling never overrides my first responsibility, which is to my family. Do I always succeed? No. Is it often a struggle? Yes. Thankfully, there are ways to balance both career and family, but only if we surrender our careers to God. He can show us the paths to follow." (page 81)
For the last decade, Joni has interviewed guests - including other working moms, Deborah Norville, Dr. Phil's Robin McGraw and Paula White - on today's "real life" issues.
"There are no perfect parents and no perfect kids but if we surrender our kids to the Lord and 'train them up in the way they should go,' they will likely forgive us our human failings." (page 67)
In Surrender All, Joni weaves her personal stories of surrender throughout those of guests she's interviewed on her shows, including:
- Parents of the 2007 Heisman Trophy winner - Pam and Bob Tebow, missionaries who served in the Philippines. Weeks after contracting amoebic dysentery, Pam discovered she was pregnant. Doctors urged her to have an abortion due to the affects the drugs had on the fetus; she surrendered her pregnancy to God's control.
"Twenty years later, Pam and Bob Tebow stood on a stage in New York City with that child, as he thanked Jesus Christ 'my Lord and Savior' after becoming the youngest person ever to win the Heisman Trophy." (page 146)
Published by Random House, and scheduled for release October 2008, Surrender All provides heart-warming, personal stories and instruction to finding your true purpose, power and peace.
