Republican Vice Presidential Nominee Sarah Palin Raises Visibility/Scrutiny of Working Moms
Joni Lamb - Working Mom, Wife, TV Executive - Shares How to Find Work/Life Balance in Her Book, "Surrender All"
DALLAS, Sept. 8, 2008—The gun-toting, tough-as-nails Alaska governor is also a wife and mother to five - one an infant with Down syndrome, another a teenaged un-wed mother-to-be. Her recent Republican vice presidential nomination has again stirred up the old debate: can/should a mother have a significant professional career.
Many, including The Washington Post's Sally Quinn, are questioning, "Is she prepared for the all-consuming nature of the job? . . . Her first priority has to be her children. When the phone rings at three in the morning and one of her children is really sick what choice will she make?"
Joni Lamb - working mom, TV executive, popular talk show host and inspirational singer - has found work-life balance through an unlikely path - surrender.
"I do my best to make sure my calling never overrides my first responsibility, which is to my family. Do I always succeed? No. Is it often a struggle? Yes. Thankfully, there are ways to balance both career and family, but only if we surrender our careers to God. He can show us the paths to follow." (Surrender All, Page 81)
Millions of viewers have gotten to know Joni on the world's second largest faith-based television network - Daystar - that she co-founded, but with the release of her first book, Surrender All (Random House, October 2008), Joni reveals her personal struggles, and shares stories of surrender from some her favorite talk show guests - the ordinary to extraordinary.
Published by Random House, and scheduled for release October 2008, Surrender All provides heart-warming, personal stories and instruction for finding your true purpose, power and peace.
In light of the Palin nomination, the topic of working moms has never been more timely.
