Starting Today: Millions of People Learn How They Can Respond to the Cry of the Orphan
Popular Radio Shows FamilyLife Today, Focus on the Family and Money Matters Devote Full Week to Helping the World's 143 Million Orphans
LITTLE ROCK, Ark., Nov. 12, 2007—You are God's plan for the orphan. It's a simple and powerful message the Cry of the Orphan campaign will share this week with millions of Christian radio listeners across the country.
STARTING TODAY: Popular radio hosts Dennis Rainey of FamilyLife Today, Dr. James Dobson of Focus on the Family and Howard Dayton of Money Matters will work together-devoting their daily broadcasts and utilizing their organizations' resources to show people how they can respond to the orphan crisis.
"The Church has the capacity to make a real difference in the lives of millions of orphans who have no voice, no hope, no idea what life is going to hold for them," said Paul Pennington of FamilyLife and one of the leaders of the Cry of the Orphan effort.
"By having Dennis Rainey, Jim Daly and Howard Dayton devoting an entire week of their broadcasts to the orphan crisis we can use their voices, and their tremendous enthusiasm, to share with a massive Christian audience why God wants us to reach out to orphans - and how every one of us can make a difference," said Scott Hasenbalg, executive director of Shaohannah's Hope and a key member of the Cry of the Orphan campaign.
In addition to the broadcasts on FamilyLife Today, Focus on the Family and Money Matters, people are encouraged to go to CryoftheOrphan.org for more information. The Web site shares practical tips and offers resources to help people navigate through the adoption process, get their churches involved in caring for orphans, and better understand God's heart on this issue.
Recognizing that the severity of today's orphan crisis is bigger than any one organization, FamilyLife, Focus on the Family, and Shaohannah's Hope (founded by award-winning musician Steven Curtis Chapman) launched the Cry of the Orphan campaign to help raise awareness and encourage Christians and churches to get actively involved in caring for the world's orphans.
