As The Da Vinci Code Fills Theaters, Da Vinci De-Coders are Burning Up Podcast Directories
ORLANDO, Fla., May 22, 2006—While thousands "seek the truth" in theaters across the country, international evangelism and discipleship organization Campus Crusade for Christ is using podcasting to equip viewers with solid answers to the potential questions raised by The Da Vinci Code.
The podcast is a dramatic presentation of a new book written by international speaker and best-selling author Josh McDowell. The Da Vinci Code: A Quest for Answers is specifically aimed to answer questions raised by the movie and help viewers young and old separate fact from fallacy.
"Podcasting gives us an opportunity to make information readily accessible to a large and diverse audience," said McDowell. "It has proved to be an invaluable tool for equipping Christians to respond to questions about The Da Vinci Code."
McDowell and other "de-Coders" of Da Vinci believe the movie's release will lead many people to ask questions about the events recorded in the Bible. For McDowell, that could be a very good thing.
"If we approach The Da Vinci Code movie with a thorough understanding of biblical truth, we can turn a potentially negative influence into a positive impact," said McDowell. "Our response to the movie can give us a marvelous opportunity to explain the difference between fact and fiction, truth and imagination, and history and hoax."
The podcast is available at pcgmedia.org/davincianswers.html. In addition to the audio podcast and book, Josh McDowell and Campus Crusade for Christ have created a number of Web sites to help point people to the facts, including www.jesusanddavinci.com, www.davinciandjesus.com, and www.davinciquest.org.
A ministry of Campus Crusade for Christ International, Josh McDowell Ministries uses publications, speaking engagements, and church resources to teach Christians to defend their beliefs with factual evidence. Since 1964, Josh McDowell has spoken to more than 7 million youth in live forums about topics ranging from evidence of the resurrection to youth cultural issues.
