1,000+ Orphan Advocates Join to Escalate Christian Response to Worldwide Orphan Crisis
WHAT: As Russian adoptions and Haitian orphans are making headlines, more than 1,000 Christian leaders and orphan advocates are joining together to help expand the engagement of churches and individuals in addressing the orphan crisis not only in Russia and Haiti-but around the world. The Christian Alliance for Orphans' Summit VI will educate and equip Christians to become involved in orphan care, from adoption and foster care to overseas initiatives.
WHO: Summit VI will feature leading ministry and orphan care advocates including:
- John Piper, pastor for preaching at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Minnesota
- Award-winning Christian music artist Steven Curtis Chapman
- Al Mohler, president of The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary
- Jedd Medefind, president of Christian Alliance for Orphans
- Patricia Arzu, first lady of Guatemala City
WHEN: April 29-30, 2010
WHERE: Grace Church
9301 Eden Prairie Road
Eden Prairie, MN 55347
"American Christians are rising to the needs of orphans both at home and abroad as never before," said Medefind. "What's thrilling is that even small ministries in local churches can make a major impact. There are millions of parentless children worldwide, but a single statistic matters more than any other: it only takes one caring adult to make a lasting difference in the life of an orphan."
