BreakPoint Founder Chuck Colson & Pres. Mark Earley Receive Honors - National Religious Broadcasters
Teachings on Living out Faith in Today’s Culture Win Recognition at Annual Convention
NASHVILLE, Tenn., March 4, 2010— The National Religious Broadcasters (NRB) inducted Chuck Colson into the NRB Hall of Fame and recognized Mark Earley's The Point as the Radio Program of the Year (short form) at its recent convention in Nashville.
Colson Joins National Religious Broadcasters Hall of Fame
"We are delighted to bestow our highest honor on such a venerable humanitarian and humble servant as Chuck Colson," said NRB President & CEO Dr. Frank Wright. "He has devoted himself-and his resources-to ministering to the incarcerated in the name of Christ. Chuck's example, in ministry and in life, continues to inspire us all."
Chuck Colson is a popular and widely known author, speaker and radio commentator. A former presidential aide to Richard Nixon and founder of Prison Fellowship-the world's largest outreach to prisoner, ex-prisoners and their families-Colson has written numerous books that have shaped Christian worldview on a variety of subjects. In 2008, President George W. Bush granted him the second highest civilian award of the U.S. government, the Presidential Citizen Medal for his humanitarian work with Prison Fellowship. In 1993, Colson was awarded the Templeton Prize along with $1 million for Progress in Religion. He donated the $1 million prize to Prison Fellowship, to whom he also donates all of his speaking fees and book royalties.
BreakPoint, a daily radio commentary created by Chuck Colson, is the worldview ministry of Prison Fellowship helping Christians live out their faith in today's culture. ThePoint's companion blog - ThePoint.BreakPoint.org - is a public forum where listeners are encouraged to further discuss these topics from a Christian worldview.
