A Walk Through the Library: Galleries
Interspersed throughout the Library are four themed gallery rooms - the man, the message, the ministry, and the mission. These rooms are dedicated to detailing what Billy Graham believed was his personal life mission and the mission of his ministry, the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association (BGEA). Through Scripture verses, quotes, pictures, videos, and artifacts, these rooms focus on the spiritual themes that are the core of Mr. Graham's faith."The Man"
The first gallery is focused on the most important man in Mr. Graham's life . . . Jesus Christ. Here guests will see pictures of mentors and advisors, associate evangelists, and Graham's traveling team who helped shape his faith. One of the quotes displayed describes
Mr. Graham's view on the choice: "When my decision for Christ was made . . . The direction of my life was changed. I’m not going to heaven because I’ve read the Bible, nor because I've preached to a lot of people, I’m going to heaven because of what Christ did."
"The Message"
"People do not come to hear what I have to say. They want to know what God has to say." That's why throughout his ministry, even though methods and technology changed over time, the simple Gospel message Graham preached remained the same. With conviction and passion, he told people around the world of God’s love and forgiveness. In the second gallery visitors will view the central themes Graham felt compelled to preach to anyone he met: "God's Message of Love for Mankind," "God's Message is for the Whole World," "God's Forgiveness of Man's Sin," and "God's Salvation through Faith in Jesus Christ."
"The Ministry"
The third gallery depicts the core principles of ministry Graham implemented during his early years, which continue to direct the work of the BGEA today. Graham believes the strength of evangelism is found working through the Church (as a whole) and by praying for every effort of ministry. Graham always relied on local Christian volunteers and placed a high value on partnership in his ministry. The BGEA continues to place strong emphasis on preparation, training, and follow-up in all of its work. Founded in 1950, today the BGEA continues to grow, reaching more people worldwide than at any point in its history.
"The Mission"
Through the support and help of his family and mentors, Billy Graham's passionate vision for preaching the Gospel became a reality. In the last gallery visitors see how Graham believed that every corner of the world should have the opportunity to make a decision to follow Christ, just as he did when he was 16 years old. During his more than 60 years of ministry, Graham preached on six continents, sharing that life-changing message with more than 210 million people.
