Do Recent Natural Disasters Feed Atheism?
Atheism Is Growing in Number of "Believers" Each Year - 12 Million "Converts" Since Sept. 11 (Gallop 2001, 2007)
CHICAGO, May 30, 2008—Do natural disasters cause people to reach out or reject God?
"[During the holocaust] evil became a catalyst for a form of atheism that argues that if there is a God, he cannot be a God like this." (Atheism Remix, Page 48)
In recent years atheism has boomed in popularity via New York Times best-sellers by Richard Dawkins (The God Delusion), Daniel Dennett (Breaking the Spell: Religion as a Natural Phenomenon), Sam Harris (The End of Faith: Religion, Terror and the Future of Reason) and Christopher Hitchens (God is not Great: How Religion Poisons Everything).
"The New Atheists are, in their own way, evangelistic in intent and ambitious in hope. They see atheism as the only plausible worldview for our times, and they see belief in God as downright dangerous." (Atheism Remix, Page 2)
In Atheism Remix, Dr. Albert Mohler, recognized by TIME magazine as the "reigning intellectual of the evangelical movement in the U.S.," (2003) methodically dismantles the arguments of the four leading New Atheism thinkers-Dawkins, Dennett, Harris and Hitchens-and reveals their agenda that threatens the very foundations of Christianity.
Dr. Mohler, current president of The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, provides the Christian response to the challenge of New Atheism and equips readers to intelligently confront the dogma head-on.
Due to hit stores in July, Atheism Remix outlines the history of atheism, the development of the New Atheism movement and the necessary Christian response.
