NBA Greats Recognized for “All-Star” Character, Saturday, Feb. 16
Athletes in Action’s All-Star Breakfast Honors NBA Personalities Who Inspire Others on and off the Court
NEW ORLEANS, Jan. 29, 2008—During the 2008 NBA All-Star Weekend in New Orleans (Saturday, Feb. 16) a group of NBA "All-Stars" will receive some well-deserved attention, not only as great athletes-but also as positive role models.
Hosted by international sports ministry Athletes in Action, the annual All-Star Breakfast honors NBA personalities who show exemplary leadership, character and integrity. The event also gives sports fans the opportunity to get "up close and personal" with professional coaches and players who will share inspiring stories about success, overcoming failure and the importance of faith.
Sports celebrities joining Athletes in Action for the 2008 All-Star Breakfast include:

Ernie Johnson, studio host for Inside the NBA on TNT

Bobby Jones, 1983 NBA Champion (Philadelphia 76ers)

Allan Houston, former N.Y. Knicks star and two-time NBA All-Star (2000, 2001)

Jerry Colangelo, managing director of USA Basketball and chairman/CEO of the Phoenix Suns

George Shinn, owner of the New Orleans Hornets
This year's All-Star Breakfast will also feature the presentation of two new awards to recognize "All-Star" role models for their contributions on the court, in the workplace, in the home and in the community:

The Jerry Colangelo Award to a current or former NBA coach, owner or executive

The Bobby Jones Award to a current or former NBA player
